Purpose – This study investigates the determinants of customers' behavioral intentions toward Internet banking adoption in Bangladesh, focusing on the effects of performance expectancy and effort expectancy.

Design/methodology/approach – A quantitative survey was conducted using convenience sampling among banking customers. A total of 348 valid responses were analyzed using reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression techniques.

Findings – The results reveal that both performance expectancy and effort expectancy significantly influence customers' behavioral intention to adopt Internet banking services. Effort expectancy emerged as the strongest predictor of behavioral intention. Furthermore, behavioral intention significantly predicts Internet banking adoption, confirming the role of intention as a direct antecedent of usage behavior.

Originality/value – This study extends technology adoption research by providing empirical evidence from a state-owned commercial bank in Bangladesh. The findings offer practical insights for enhancing customer adoption of Internet banking through improved usability and perceived service benefits.
